Case study - EE

Profile page

Working remotely as part of the Manage my Identity squad for BT Groups brand EE. Required to pick up a piece of work that was in flux, being a new customer profile page. Creating new wires and deciding on the best approach in terms of UX given the UI components available to use in the branded design system. Looking at accessibility, working with a UR to carry out user testing, iterating the designs and making good all UI for both responsive web & native app.

The problem in brief

EE customers need an area within their account where they can manage/edit their credentials & set marketing preferences. This has to be available to them in web and app.

Actions: Work with the squad being a PO, BA, content designer, relevant developers & testers to create an area for the customers to manage their credentials, the page design must be flexible and able to grow as more content becomes available.

Initial ideas

After looking into what research had gone before me I started to look at different ways to display the information on the profile page keeping in mind the additional content that could be added over time.

Example marketing preferences flow

Shown below is an example flow for adding a phone number to the marketing preferences section possibly for broadband only customers etc...

Example responsive web final UI

Following on from the results of the user testing & cross examination from the accessibility expert we have the final UI shown in this instance with additional content in the accordions, we decided to use what was available in the existing design system & to update accordingly when new components had been signed off and available in the future.

The solution

Initially looking into what work had been done prior to my arrival. I started to work on possible templates that could flex given the requirement for additional content over time. Working closely with the content designer & BA we decided that accordions would work best to display all the content to the user. Given potential accessibility issues we tested an initial prototype, with the UR's help, & made the relevant iterations to the design following the insights. There were many notifications to consider & intricacies around what marketing preferences would be set dependant on where the customer had initially signed up to EE...
