Volvo innovations hub

Working on site with the client Volvo, as a senior user experience architect I helped to promote a new subscription service ‘Care by Volvo’ for the German market. Looking at Newsletter signups & online, offline & agent busy chat scenarios for the one page scrolling site. Design sprint workshops for Innovation pages, looking at research, the IA creating a site map, sketching, wire framing, prototyping an Innovations flow for the .com site. Also user testing.

The problem in brief

Volvo have a lot of innovative products & feel the need to showcase these products along side their nearest competitors.

Actions: Research nearest competitors innovative offerings. Design sprint workshops to find out content and potential solutions. Looking at the IA, Wireframes & prototyping a solution for user testing in-line with design sprint planning.

Design sprint workshops

After initially presenting my findings from the competitor analysis, we started to look into sprint questions getting post-it’s up on the walls. Following on from that looking at inspiration, crazy eights, content & how it could be broken up & best served to the user & more detailed wireframes...

Innovations site map

After decided as a group where the innovations hub could live, being in the top level navigation, I started to work on a site map considering the IA of connected pages, for the sake of getting something tangible prototyped & tested, we looked at ‘Sensus’ & all it’s key sections.

Wireframes

Using images from Volvo’s live site I created a hi-fidelity flow for Sensus > Connectivity in Sketch, then taking into Axure to prototype, & for a realistic unmoderated user test.

The solution

After working on the IA and agreeing that the innovations hub should be located in the top level navigation, I worked on on the wireframes and a clickable prototype as linked below...

The prototype was user tested (unmoderated) and the results were promising with no indiscretions.
